Young Guns: Martin Angha
Having signed from FC Zürich at just 15, Martin has taken tremendous leaps and bounds in terms of progression.
Angha is comfortable all across the back four but prefers to play at centre-back and impressed during the first few fixtures at Arsenal. He has even played defensive midfield for Switzerland U17 on a few occasions. At 183 centimetres tall he possesses a threat from set-pieces and was one of the most highly regarded talents at FC Zürich.
Last season Martin made the most appearances for Arsenal’s reserves. Angha shows great composure while on the ball, but also has quick, nimble feet to get him out of trouble if needs be.
Angha is so high thought of within the club, he was due to make his debut last year in Arsenal’s final Champions League match against Olympiakos at just 17. Only for a mix up with registration, Andre Santos stepped in.
Last March, Martin was awarded with a new contract, he said, “I’m very happy and I’m very pleased because it gives me confidence and belief that the Club trusts me and wants to keep working with me,”.
Martin would go on to make his first team debut 6 weeks ago against Coventry City where he played the whole game and played very well. All through the match he was getting down the wing and delivering some deadly crosses.
You will no doubt be hearing a lot more about this precocious talent in the coming months and years.
Hope you enjoyed it.
